I finished Shadow of the Colossus last night. What an incredible, but at times frustrating game. It did leave you feeling odd at the end. You essentially destroy these creatures that have done nothing to you and you start to physically change as the game progresses. I hope the company puts out another game like this one, or that Ico II comes out soon.

I get my wedding band Today
Yeah, today is the day I get my wedding band. We called yesterday and it was ready yesterday but we got home at four they closed at 5 and they are in Downtown. Don't like traffic around there at that time.
One More Rejection
Yesterday I also received word from a magazine saying they didn't like the story I submitted but to submit again in September.
I sent in one called A Walk. It was short dumb piece with a typically Twilight-Zone-esque ending. Guy starts off in a town, town changes into city ruled by monsters, guy is really trapped inside a videogame. They liked the idea of the story, but not the characterization. I maded the characters really cardboard cutouts. But hey, I was bored.

Still waiting for the Test
Once again I need to retake the CSET. I have to say that this final section is probably the most intense test I've ever taken. But I will pass it this time.

Still writing a story
The upcoming story for a submission to a magazine is taking slightly longer than I anticipated. But, this is causing my writing to be filled with more details that are relevant to the setting of the story. So on the one hand, more details which are necessary, on the other, writing is taking more time than I'd like it to. But, I've got several more ideas burning in my brain from writing this story.

For the All-Father
The tree is rooted in the earth
Yet he hangs above it
dangling
feet knocking against the ancient wood
like a wanderer in a storm
his eye upon the great worm-like roots
nine days he swings
to come again and wait
so that Ragnarok may come again
Yet he hangs above it
dangling
feet knocking against the ancient wood
like a wanderer in a storm
his eye upon the great worm-like roots
nine days he swings
to come again and wait
so that Ragnarok may come again
"You're insane."
Ah yes, the words so calmly and collectively spoken by my younger sibling, The "Swedish" Chef. This came after he saw my journal with the entire breadth and span of the story I've been writing for several years. After he saw the histories of characters and how they're related or not related to each other, references to cultures and relgions, Native American tribes and custums, Egyptian, European and African history/mythology, science fiction stories and writers, and various other forms of entertainment that have allowed me to combine my favorite things into one giant sweeping story.
I guess he was amazed I had so much plotted and planned out.
Amazing what an entire year without a job can do to a person that loves to write...

My Bro
Read his blog...or else horrible fanged and tentacled creatures will seep out from the immaterium and claim your worthless soul back to the very depths of chaos for the Great Old Ones. Or, just be a loser and don't bother reading anything really cool from a very talented writer and Chef.
Peace
Peace

Return of the Red Star
So Team Red Star has finally returned. The newest issue of the Red Star is on the shelves and waiting for readers to follow them all the way back to the Beginning of things. This series is supposed to shed light on the origins of the villain known as Imbohl. And let me tell you, the artwork assists from WETA are amazing. Check it out, I won't spoil it for you.
Recovery Time
A good sign of age is how sore you can be after helping someone move into their new apartment. I should know, I just did that two days ago and still feeling really tired and sore from it. Goes with age I guess. Although all the heavy lifting and furniture building did help out too.

Why my brothers and I Love Odin and the gods
Going on a tangent here, but that's the point right?
anywho,
I've come to notice and believe that my bros and I have an affinity for Odin because we were raised by our father. Not to diss any religions or beliefs my brothers may have, but I've come to notice we accept that Odin is a god to worship. Sure, the goddesses are great and they are the ones that create and nurture the earth, but for guys, especially young males, the All-father seems pretty cool, as does Zeus, hell, even God has time of being a bloody-handed God. Plus, the father had more power than the mother did, as was the case in our upbringing. My dad did all the hard work and made himself out to be a superman by working, coaching and driving us to all our games when we were kids. And he still had time to joke around with us and play.
Not many dads that I know of were actually part of their kids' lives.
So I'm fortunate, and maybe my children will learn and love all the stories of all the gods and goddesses of the world,
as for me,
I'm just a pilgrim that believes in the old gods.

Can you Smell the Heresy?
So, the last post is for anyone who has read, will read or is interested in reading the Horus Heresy novels published through the Black Library, a branch of the Uber-cool Games Workshop.
As some of you may know they make a little game called Warhammer 40,000. I know it sounds cheesy, but the actual history of the game is why people play it. Anywho, on to the Heresy
The story takes place after the Emperor of Mankind, since no one really knows his name, decides that it is time to go back home to earth, now known as Terra, in order to begin a secret project. In his stead he leaves his most favored son, a Primarch (think the greek gods and you get the gist of these superhuman men) named Horus, to carry on the mission of bringing back every single planet mankind had ever stepped foot on. As part of the mission Horus is dubbed the Warmaster.
the rest of the book is filled with spoiler info, but I can say that it really lives up to the title, which is Horus Rising.
Book Two is called False Gods. This centers around the act of Horus being wounded by a weapon that practically sees him killed. It also begins to illuminate the information the Emperor has been keeping to himself about the dark gods of Chaos and the Immaterium/the Warp, which is essentially the force used to move ships through space and the power that gives psychics their powers as well.
It also sets in motion actions which will shake the Imperium to its very foundation.
the third novel has not yet been released, but is titled, Galaxy in Flames.

What's in a Name anyway
It seems that after talking, considerably longer than usual, with my bro, certain things have come to light.
- I'm literally teaching him to write a short story in a format that is acceptable
- I'm teaching him something that I know and he's actually listening
- I don't know how the hell it happened.
My old and Favorite English professor, Chuck Rosenthal (Google him if you must)
would possibly be proud. Now, if only I could remember all the exercises Chuck made us do at Loyola. This would a great time to point out why you shouldn't drink and Write or attend class while drunk.
The Deal
"So, you've got a really cool story to put up on the Black Library's Forums for fanfiction,"
"Uhmm, I don't know how I feel about that, but I'll put one on there if you put one on."
"Okay, sounds like a deal."
And that is why both me and my little bro are writing like madmen trying to outdo each other for a story we'll put up at the Black Library.
